L’Atelier 35 Barbershop and Hair Salon

L’Atelier 35 grew out of its founders’ move from Paris to Belgrade and their search for specialist care for Afro-textured hair. This personal experience inspired the idea of an international salon open to every hair type, a place where Parisian urban elegance could meet subtle references to African culture.

The interior was completely transformed and organized around a central reception, with the barbering and hairdressing areas placed on opposite sides. The washing zone connects them, creating a circular route that makes movement through the salon natural and intuitive.

Rather than interpreting its influences literally, the design expresses them through material and detail. Dark veneer, leather, stone and brass create a refined atmosphere. Arched mirrors and a curved screen introduce African references, while French neon lettering recalls Paris. The result is a contemporary Belgrade salon shaped by two cultures and a personal story.
